Shhhhhhhhhh...

Just because it’s illicit doesn’t mean it’s bad.

Welcome back to 1922, a time of romance, daring & secrecy in a New York prohibition style drink and eaterie, where it’s easy to speakeasy. Enjoy authentic 1920’s fashion, cocktails from the golden age, and DJs blending sounds of the Jazz age with contemporary beats.

Lenny’s is a Whisky & Bourbon bar, a ‘Smoke Grill’ steakhouse, a VIP cocktail lounge and nightclub.

As well as booking tables for dinner, guests will be able to reserve ‘Lenny’s’ champagne booths, and benefit from the exclusive service and selections available only to these areas of the venue.

In its basement Lenny’s will also be home to Liverpool’s newest comedy night... The Laughterhouse, which will seat over 150 guests.

Lenny’s does not merely tip its hat to the speakeasy style, but also revives some of the romance and secrecy of the era when alcohol was illegal, and all wining and dining very much an illicit activity.

The Speakeasy. A Little History...

Speakeasy, also known as a 'blind pig' or a 'blind tiger', is an illicit or unlicensed establishment dispensing alcoholic beverages.

The speakeasy had been part of the American scene since at least the 1890's, but it reached its heyday after the Eighteenth Amendment took effect in January 1920, ushering in the Prohibition era. Though alcohol was officially illegal during Prohibition, bootleggers and distributors of illicit alcohol enjoyed a thriving business serving a public still eager to drink.

At the height of their popularity (1924–1933), speakeasies were generally either bars or restaurants to which people gained admission by personal introduction or by presenting a card, usually informally. In social class they ranged from smart restaurants to underworld dens, but whereas before Prohibition, most "respectable" women would not be welcome in a public bar, women as well as men began flocking to speakeasies.
